After the Rain - Chapter 37The Doctor looked up when the door to the room closed, leaving him alone with Shana. He waved his sonic over her, only to confirm what he already knew. He carefully picked her hand up, placing it in his hand, ignoring the fact that he heard the bone that had been left behind from the chemical cracked, breaking away.

He ran his other hand through her hair, smoothing it out, whispering to her words of love and caring. Telling her he was here, that everything would be okay. He bent down, placing his forehead to hers, sending her the love in his heart that she helped nurture.

When he arrived at the closed door, Gwen stood outside of it, pale as if there was no blood flowing through her. The Doctor tried to get past her, but she placed a hand on his chest, holding him back.

"Doctor," She said, her voice barely that of a whisper. He looked at the closed door, and turned slowly to look at the hazel eyes that are shielded in sadness. "We've done everything we can for her," She said.

After the Rain - Chapter 35Jack arrived at the Hub after the team had returned with dinner. There was "dinner chatter" going on, but it was rather subdued. The silence before the battle. It doesn't matter where, or when, or what the next battle was, the meal before it always sounds the same.

The thoughts of "This could be my last dinner" or, "I'll miss sharing this with him/her" run through everyone's mind. He should know. Him and the Doctors. The three of them had a few meals like this through the years.

Shana knew that voice. She didn't know where she was, but she knew that voice and it meant danger. She tried to open her eyes, but she couldn't see. She tried to move, but she couldn't. She had to remain calm.

After the Rain - Chapter 33The Doctor had been in Sick Bay for hours, running the multitude of tests that he knew would give him the answer he needed. The answer that had to match his suspicions. The centrifuge was running non-stop, spinning her samples. Just a few more minutes. That's all that there is left and he would know.

He twirled his sonic screwdriver in his fingers, waiting for the machine to stop. A watched pot doesn't boil. He turned his back to the machine, leaned up against the counter, closing his eyes.
